The Pirates pack

The whole pirate kit — a treasure chest, a parrot, an eyepatch, a Jolly Roger. An Imposter+ pack. The words orbit one idea, so the game is about the specific object, not the theme.

Giving clues for this pack

If you're on the crew

Describe the object and its job aboard ship. "Buried", "X marks it", "gold" all point at the treasure chest. "Pirate" is the theme, not a clue.

If you're the impostor

You already have "pirate". Use "you'd see it in a pirate film", "old-fashioned", "on a ship" and let the crew reveal whether it's loot, a companion, a weapon or a flag.

Crew clues

  • “skull”
  • “flies high”
  • “black”

Impostor's clue

“swashbuckling”

The tell: "Swashbuckling" is a mood word. The crew were describing the skull-and-crossbones flag; the impostor was describing the genre.

Play the Pirates pack

Pick Pirates on the setup screen — it needs an Imposter+ subscription. Or leave the pack on Random and the vault will still deal from it sometimes.
